Do you have a favorite Christmas movie? Mine has always been the animated Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer that came out in 1964. My fascination with the movie grew when I learned how the movie (and the others released around the same time) were made using claymation stop motion techniques. I remember watching a behind the scenes making of film at some point, but I can’t seem to find a copy of it.
I included two videos below – the first is an about 11 minute behind the scenes of the claymation movie of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer as well as the origin of the story itself. The second is a 3 minute clip that briefly explains how claymation works.
Enjoy!
